My Sunday Select

“You Can Close Your Eyes” by James Taylor

Not a very known song by James but such a beautiful tune…some stand outs for me:

-the smoothness of his voice

-guitar and vocals is hard to pull off and he’s made himself a legend at doing it

-he has hair…a lot of it…and a sweet mustache

-Vocal riff at 1:51

-he messes up at the end but covers it SO WELL

Listening James Taylor is what made me want to play guitar and sing when I was 13. His music is comfort to me and always takes me to a really cool time of my life when I began to not just listen to music through my ears but I began to feel it as it sank deep into the fibers of my soul.

Happy Sunday,

nate

Selling my guitar

Taylor 714ce with the Expression system. Western Red Cedar top, Indian Rosewood back and sides. Click HERE for the write up and specs on the guitar.

I bought it new about 5 years ago. I played it weekly until last year when I bought a new guitar. It’s been case kept this past year and has only come out a handful of times. It has one small nick on the back but it doesn’t affect the sound quality at all. I was hoping to get in the ballpark of $1799 for it…but make me an offer. My email is in the side bar, let me know if you’re interested!! It really is a beautiful guitar…

Make me ready

I’m sitting at Starbucks in Birkdale Village catching up on blogs, growing my addiction to Viva la Vida, and trying to shake the Church hangover with a Double Shot on Ice. As I sit here it’s hitting me so hard how much these people need a real hardcore Jesus shot. The mom who continues to speak to her son through gritted teeth is showing her disgust with life and needs to know Jesus is her man and her sons daddy. The girl who walked in showing way to much of herself at 9:30 in the morning needs to hear how beautiful Jesus thinks she is and that she doesn’t need to dress like that to gain the attention of guys who will continue to destroy her self-worth. The 25 year old guy who is wearing a suit and tie hoping to land his next sales pitch so he’ll look “successful” to his old man, but inside all he wants to do is rip off that tie, jump back in his 4runner, and disappear into the woods to go hiking needs Jesus to tell him that life is way more important than success in the eyes of man.

So how does Jesus get to these people to tell them? Me and You…

2 Timothy 1:7-8, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord…”

Do I need to jump up on my table and start preaching the Gospel…no, but i would if God wanted me to! I’m Jesus’ hands and feet. It’s my responsibility to be ready at all times to tell people about Him…

Jesus make me as ready as a soldier to war and fight for the expansion of Your Kingdom. If You’re going to work a miracle in the lives of any of these people…work it through me!!

I pray this same prayer for you…

Moments

In Carrie and I’s 5 years we’ve never owned a house. It’s been a dream of ours to eventually have a house we call “home”. For a while in the past year we wondered if that would ever be a dream that came true…well the dream has begun. Just a few weeks ago we put some money down to start building our first home!! The other night we went over to what we now call our “dirt” and had dinner. As we pulled up this is what we saw:

I can’t tell you how excited the Davis Family is about our “dirt”. I’m so grateful to God for hearing the cries of a wife asking for a “nest” to call her own and for hearing the begging of a husband to be the provider he has always dreamt of being.

Thank you God for being true to the name “Jehovah Jireh”. May we continue to give thanks everyday while this house is built and everyday we spend inside of it!

Worship “text” Confessional

OK, it’s been a while but I’m gonna get back on the wagon with sharing what we here at Mosaic are doing on the weekends musically. This weekend was our last weekend having church at the AMC movie theater. Next weekend we are moving to a high school theater. It’s an AMAZING facility. I’m so excited to be coming into the church in this season. Our set yesterday consisted of:

All Because of Jesus- C

Happy Day- C

Beautiful One- D

Surrender- G

reprise of Happy Day- C

We did 3 upfront and 2 on the back end. Pastor Naeem gave an amazing teaching on “Authority” and submitting, no matter how hard, to the authorities God places in our life. Overall it was a great weekend and we as a church are looking forward to this next season.
