The Big Gift

About 2-3 weeks ago my wife and I were laying in bed talking. I was telling her how I’d been asking myself the question, “have I made a difference?”. You see, we are approaching the end of our time here in Charleston and at Seacoast. The Lord is moving us on up the road to an amazing city in North Carolina called Charlotte (I’ll blog more on this at a later time). As this move approaches I’m looking back over my time and wondering if I’ve been influencing, impacting, and inspiring people for God’s Kingdom. My wife, hearing her husband lament, got a beautiful idea for a gift.

It is a leather bound book. The pages are filled with pictures from the the past and letters from friends about how I’ve made a difference in their life. It took me about 2 minutes of reading before the tears came. It’s the most beautiful gift I’ve received and it’s something I’ll cherish for my lifetime. I thank Jesus for the life He is giving me everyday. For the people I get to share life with, teach, and be taught. If you are reading this and were a part of submitting a letter…Thank You. Your words have filled me to overflowing and have excited me to go into the next season with new faces to meet and new souls to change.

Most of all I thank my wife. Carrie, I could never put into words how you’ve made YOUR man feel. You heard the hurt and questions of the man you love and instead of hoping I’ll pull out of a funk, you went and did something about it. With a beautiful gift you have built me up to a stronger man and have pushed me forward into a better leader for our family and the family of Christ. Thank You.

Thanks to everyone who’s reading this and have shared in a moment of my life I’ll never forget.

I wanted to put this out into the universe. I would like to put a custom look to my blog. I hate surfing folks blogs and I have the same pre-made blog skin. SO, if you are super savy at making websites and such look cool…email me, my contact info is in my side bar….

very nice

It’s Saturday night and I was getting everything ready for the morning. I heard the noise that lets me know I have a new email in my inbox. I sat down to check it and this is what I saw…

I don’t know if Phil really decided to follow my twitter updates or if he has someone handle that for him. Either way…Phil if you are reading this, you just made my week and shoot me an email sometime…

hope your Sunday is shaping up to be as excellent as mine

Guys Night Out

Every few months myself and a handful of friends do guys night out. It’s cool because I go way back with all of these guys and it’s a time when we can all stop talking about work for awhile and just appreciate one another. We all kinda cut our teeth in ministry together and it’s neat to see where God is taking us.
Last night we rallied and headed North on Highway 17 to an outdoor shooting range. As we pulled up we were hoping to be the only ones but we were not. On our approach to the range I felt immediately out of place with all the trucks and pants that sagged a little too low. It was pretty obvious we were novices when it came to guns and shooting. We were getting some weird looks while setting up our targets and getting our guns and rounds set out. I thought we were going to be ok until Chris pulled out jelly beans to eat. I started to get worried for our safety at that point. Once we got to the shooting we had an awesome time.
From the range we went to Josh’s house for steaks, cigars, and cards. The meal was excellent, the conversation was even better, and cards and cigars were memorable. I’m not sure who ended up the victor of the game because Todd and I left around 1 am, but my guess is Jason.

All in all it was a great night, one to remember for sure…

Yum

I love this hot sauce you see above. I eat it on anything I can put it on….ask my wife, that’s a lot. I just had an egg and cheese sammy for dinner and was enjoying it so much I thought I’d share. For those who like hot things and have never experienced it, you should try it. It’s called Sriracha…enjoy

My Friday

Friday morning I woke up and drove to Greenville, SC to meet and hang out with Lee. I was speed racer heading up I-26 and on I-385 because we were meeting at 12:30 and I left around 9:40. I made what google was telling me would take 3 hrs and 30 minutes in about 3 hrs even…pat on back….thank you, thank you.

We had a killer lunch at Coffee Underground and chatted it up about music, church, life, and family. After that we jumped over to Anderson and Lee gave me a behind the scenes tour of New Spring. Amazing church facility to go with and amazing church body. After the tour Lee and I sat down and the inspiration came down. We wrote a song that we both think is really good. Once we get a proper demo maybe I’ll post it…we’ll see.

After songwriting we hit a Thai restaurant called Lemongrass…delicious! From dinner we headed back to the casa and Lee introduced me to Brian Regan…hilarious.

Woke up this am had coffee and crack donuts, Lee and I talked church and life, we prayed, and I hit the road for Charleston. Not a bad way to spend 24 hours huh?
