My office today

Right next door to our new apt in Charlotte is an outdoor mall called Birkdale Village. I was at Starbucks this morning after a meeting and I wanted to do some work. I asked where there was free wifi and I was directed about 6 doors down to Cafe Mia. So, here I sit for the next few hours, outside, in beautiful 80 degree weather preparing for rehearsal tonight…I love my new city.

Stats are hurting

Due to the craziness of my life right now my blogging frequency has suffered. As a result my daily visitations have greatly decreased. SO, in an effort to keep my readers here at One Red Pilot I’m going to get back in the saddle. I’ve put together a schedule to make my blogging more active…I’ve got the Worship Confessionals coming back, My Sunday Select, and I’m going try a few new things.

So STAY WITH ME FRIENDS!

We made it…

Well, we are here. We made the move to Charlotte, NC. We are currently staying with some great friends who are putting us up while we hunt to buy a house. Please pray the home buying process goes quick and smoothly for us. I’m soooo ready to put my family in OUR home.

I lead worship for the first time at Mosaic this Sunday and I can’t wait.  I’m so excited about the  places God wants to take this body in corporate worship and it starts this weekend! My blogs may be sporatic for a short time while I settle in but stick with me.

any of you made HUGE life transitions lately?

Why?

HER side of the shower..

MY side of the shower

Can someone please explain this to me. We’ve been married 5 years, my mom was a single mom, I had a sister, and I have 4 aunts. I’ve grown up around women my whole life but I still don’t understand this.

My Sunday Select

Up this Sunday, The Beatles, “Let it Be”

No words need to be said really but I’ll point out a few of my favs about this vid…

  • Paul’s beard rules
  • how effortlessly he sings this song makes me ache to be that talented
  • the fact that they are recording live with no headphones…talent
  • Paul making love to the camera
  • the fact that this was their last record and Yoko is sitting next to John…symbolism
  • this guy playing organ at 2:01
  • George’s guitar solo. There’s something to be said about a simple, tasteful solo
  • John is playing bass
  • the timelessness of this song

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I…

Travels

I have driven the stretch from Charleston, SC to Charlotte, NC more in the past 3 weeks than I did in all of 2007. We been taking trips to house hunt and such hoping each time to come back to Charleston with a place to move but all we’ve come back with is empty hands. This weekend was the same. We have some possibilities and we are a few steps closer to our home, but nothing in stone yet. The Lord gave us some great hope through Naeem’s message this morning that was so timely to the situation as well. So….keep praying for our hearts desire to be fulfilled but more than that, The Lord’s will to be done…

My will be done? No thanks

Matthew 7:21-23

21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

I’ve gone back and forth with his verse for a long time. On a first time read it freaks you out a little huh? Even after many reads it still freaked me out. Well not long ago I was reading through Matthew and I came across this verse. As I read it…it clicked. It’s not about living a life of ministry in fear, wondering if you were going to get tossed out at the end. It’s about KNOWING and LIVING out the will of God in your life. You see, everything Jesus references in this passage is all works, “prophesy”, “drive out”, “perform”. What I believe Jesus is saying is that it’s not about DOING a bunch a things and hoping they are the right things. It’s about KNOWING one thing (God’s will) and going 100% for that. In my own life I apply it like this.

“That’s great Pastor. You went out and sang songs for people, said some nice words to make folks feel good about themselves, you even helped them along in their walk, BUT that’s not God’s will for your life. You decided on your own how your going to live out your life and since you chose not to know The Father and the abundabce He has for you in your life of ministry, I choose not to know you, AWAY FROM ME!!”

This is a very timely light bulb for me. I don’t know about you, but I’m choosing to ask God what He wants me to do, not play it out how I want it to look.

favor to you,

nate

We need a house!

OK, we’ve been trying to find a house to rent in Charlotte, NC. We are getting close but we haven’t hit the bullseye yet. Here’s what we need…

- A house, preferably not a townhome, apartment, or duplex

- at least 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths

- Huntersville area of Charlotte

- would like a garage and a yard of some sort

- good neighborhood for kids

We do have a budget but I’m not putting that on here. If you know of ANYTHING please email me, my address is in the sidebar.
